ARTIST STATEMENTS
"As an artist, my work explores the concept of cultural blending by moving between South Korea and The United States. Through my art, I aim to speak about the idea of home and homeland, as well as my identity with Korean heritage. My work is based on personal history, memory, experience, and dreams. I strive to create implied narratives that convey my message to the viewer. I believe that art has the power to bridge cultural divides and connect people from different backgrounds, and I hope that my work can contribute to this dialogue." - Jihye Han

"My work embodies consistency, precision, and meticulous craftsmanship, emphasizing the interplay between intentionality and spontaneity. Delving into the dialogue between tradition and contemporary art, I am driven by a relentless pursuit to expand the boundaries of ceramics as a medium of expression. Each piece I create serves as a canvas for a diverse cast of characters, engaging in silent conversations that speak volumes through their nuanced expressions. These characters, often bearing semblances to self-portraits, invite viewers into a world where implied images and narratives converge. Exploring the intricacies of daily existence, my work serves as a reflection of my ongoing quest for artistic identity. Through the recurring motif of 'Listening,' I delve into the depths of human emotion, transforming abstract inner experiences into tangible visual realities. Ultimately, my art serves as a bridge between the tangible and the intangible, inviting viewers to contemplate the complexities of the human experience and the ever-evolving relationship between self and surroundings." - Yeonsoo Kim
